The Psychoanalytical Society of Serbia is very pleased to announce the project On Violence consisting of a one-day conference “Why Violence”, which will be followed by a special exhibition of the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna “Narrating Violence. A Comic Exhibition”

The conference “Why Violence” will present a contemporary psychoanalytic understanding of, nowadays especially important issue of human violence. It will be considered from different perspectives, starting from children violence, adolescents and adults, violence in the media, to wars as a solution to international conflicts through violence. Apart from the members of the Psychoanalytic Society of Serbia, it is a special pleasure to announce the participation in the conference of the colleagues from Austria: Elisabeth Skale and Thomas Jung, as well as the colleague from Bulgaria Valentina Lessenska.

Also, we are very happy that after a number of years, we once again have the opportunity to host the Sigmund Freud Museum from Vienna with their current special exhibition “Narrating Violence. A Comic Exhibition”, and present to the audience in Serbia the most diverse creative possibilities of portraying violence in comics. Several world-renowned comic artists will present their personal reflections on the eternal question of human destructiveness. The curators of the Sigmund Freud Museum, Marina Rauchenbacher and Daniela Finzi, will attend the opening, and a guided tour through the exhibition will be organized for visitors by the curators.
