The Psychoanalytic Society of Serbia on May 14th 2025. lost another honorary member, Marilia Aisenstein. She was a training psychoanalyst and supervisor of the Paris Psychoanalytic Society of which she was former President for six years, the Greek Psychoanalytic Society, a member and one of the former presidents of the Institute of Psychosomatics in Paris and an associate member of the British Society. In addition, she was the President of the international committee for new groups.
Her professional work includes an extremely large number of published texts and 18 books. Her books and works have been translated into English, Greek, Spanish and other languages. In clinical practice, she dealt with psychosomatic patients, but also with masochism and pain in psychological functioning.
A Greek origin, with the refined spirit of Paris where she spent most of her life, she remained a warm, dignified, ethical and highly moral spirit, collegial, committed and loyal to friends and colleagues with whom she actively collaborated until the last day.
From the beginning, Marilia supported PDS and helped with advices, thoughts, and lectures for the public and colleagues. She looked forward to every new step in the development of the Society. In critical moments of development, she was of the great and significant support.
With her death PDS is impoverished, but at the same time enriched by everything she shared and invested in the development of the Society. She was an invaluable friend and colleague.
