To mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of Sigmund Freud, the Psychoanalytical Society of Serbia is organizing a conference titled “The Riddles of the Unconscious” in May of this year.
The conference will be held on May 8th and 9th 2026 at the Hotel Palace in Belgrade.
In addition to a rich program of lectures presented by twelve psychoanalysts and a round table of psychoanalysts in training, the conference will also host a guest from Vienna, psychoanalyst Renate Kohlheimer, current Vice President of the European Psychoanalytical Federation and former president of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society.
The conference program also includes a screening of the latest film about Freud, “Outsider. Freud”, directed by Yair Qedar. Well-known psychoanalysts and experts on Freud guide the viewer through the exciting life of the creator of psychoanalysis, in the specific historical atmosphere of Vienna from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, as well as through understanding how experiences in such an atmosphere shaped his professional development and theories. The director’s visual solutions show in a creative way the riddles of the human psyche.
Translation into Serbian will be provided, both for the guest’s lecture and for the film.
